Writing inspirational stories should be based on facts, not fiction,” said @golagong in front of more than 200 participants online, Sunday (22/10). @kbrisingapura together with @sippublishing conducted an inspirational story writing training by presenting @golagong, a writer known for his novel ‘Balada Si Roy” as well as the Indonesian Reading Ambassador who has been in charge since 2021 replacing @najwashihab. This free training was attended by several countries including Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and several other countries from various backgrounds.
@golagong stated that inspirational stories can come from anywhere, including ourselves. Therefore, we must first believe that whatever someone does or what we do can provide positive inspiration for readers. “The writing steps are the same as journalistic steps, we have to do personal literature first,” he added. He told about himself who had physical limitations because his hand had to be amputated due to an accident, but still continued to work so that he could write nearly 120 book titles, besides that he was also listed as a paralympic athlete.
The training aims to provide training opportunities for Indonesian migrant workers in Singapore to discover their potential through writing. “Indonesian migrant workers in Singapore have a lot of potential, one of those potentials is as writers. At least a dozen people I met until now continue to write poetry, short stories, and publish books independently while fulfilling their responsibilities as domestic workers,” explained @atdikbud.singapura, @igaksatrya. @kemdikbud.ri also seeks to encourage the potential of Indonesian talents through the Balai Pengembangan Talenta Indonesia (BPTI) to organize the Festival Literasi Siswa Indonesia (FeLSI) to accommodate the development of students’ talents in the field of language and literacy.
This is also related to the government’s efforts to have Indonesian recognized as an official language by UNESCO.
